The photography of Mark Bryce AMPA

Bryce is a rarity in the industry. A Photographer, a fully trained professional. He has not fallen into it from another industry, he was never a press or fashion photographer, nor is he a part timer. He is a Wedding and Portrait photographer, and has been working in this industry all of his adult life.

This has given him the required skill set to effectively produce time and time again the most thought provoking, artistic images available today.

Starting his studio based business in 1990, he wins industry awards and appears in trade magazines with great regularity, this indeed shows that he leads, not follows.

It is apparent that his style is very contemporary, but also classical. Not photographs that will become dated, or the latest photoshop technique that every one seems to be using this month. They delight, not just young couples, but all generations.

Camera skills, and an understanding of light are of course basic requirements of all photographers, however the thing that rises above this and is not something that can be easily taught - People Skills. The ability to understand the person in front of him, and why they are there.

While looking through the portfolio’s in this site, you will see, if you care look, subjects are at ease in his presence, they are not laughing, they are happy, comfortable. They do not look at a camera, they look through the lens at a person.

His photographs engage the viewer and demand attention. They are full of narrative and provoke feelings and emotions like no others. It very quickly becomes apparent, his influences come from a different place than most in the industry.

There are no models in these photographs, they all are real people, on their Wedding Day or a commissioned portrait. The thing they have in common, is their relaxed and natural appearance.

Bryce works with people from all walks of life and treats them indifferently with the same respect and courtesy. He is not daunted by an A list personality, nor phased by the toughest wedding co-ordinator. He has worked successfully with them all, and gained their true respect.
